Futurama's Here
I love Futurama. I have all the 72 episodes of the now-discontinued (damn you, Fox!) TV series, and I've seen the first of the four direct-to-DVD movies, Bender's Big Score.
The next installment, The Beast with a Billion Backs, will be released tomorrow. The movie starts with where Big Score has left off, when a space-time rift opened to let in a monster.

AMD-powered IBM Supercomputer Tops List
An AMD Opteron-powered IBM supercomputer called Roadrunner topped the list of 500 fastest supercomputers, leading the pack with more than a petaflop of computing speed. Roadrunner also uses an advanced version of the Cell processor, which is also used in PS3 consoles.
The next on the list is Blue Gene/L, with 450 teraflops, then by another Opteron-powered system, Ranger, with 326 teraflops.

Vehicles for the Apocalypse
When apocalypse comes and a horde of zombies (or nuclear mutants and rampaging robots) obliterate the earth, your bug-out bag may not be sufficient to ensure your survival. You may need a pimped-out vehicle to outrun your opponents. Wired has a gallery of 10 best vehicles to use when the future of mankind is at stake.

First Teraflop GPU
AMD's new 4870 graphics chip, to be launched within days now - will have 1.2 teraflops of computer power - at a TDP of about 150 watts.
This should beat the cr@p out of nVIDIA's cards. Just look at the benchmarks above.

Tiny Speakers, Big Sound
This is a perfect companion for my iPod when I travel - the52-gram x-mini speaker. It's incredibly tiny - about the size of a small puck - but has good sound reception and bass response.

PS3 is an Electricity Hog?
According to a report, a PS3 consumers five times more energy than a medium-sized refrigerator. If this is true, I am now having reservations of leaving my console running overnight just crunching numbers for Folding@Home.

Indiana Jones
I watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last weekend, and I found it quite enjoyable. The film has followed the typical Indiana Jones formula: Harrison Ford in his usual scowly countenance, car chases (with Shia LeBoef crossing rapiers with the Russian villain - played by Cate Blanchett - while perched between two moving cars), brawls and fist-fights, snakes and ancient monsters, with funny moments in between. It was good, until the ending, when director Steven Spielberg turned the franchise upside down by infusing it with silly von Daniken crap that one would only find in the TV series X-Files.
Aliens my @$$.
