Hollywood and Computers
Cracked.com has a funny take on Hollywood's tendency to misuse computers as plot devices, like hacking a traffic light or stealing 9.5 billions dollars using a laptop.
How do you say 'suspension of disbelief' in C++?

Google Android is Here
The Google Android - the search giants mobile device OS - finally arrived, in an HTC phone.
The specs are so far adequate, but the real meat of the product is its "openness" - developers can write programs whatever they want - unlike Apple's, who's a bit anal-retentive about what goes into the iPhone and iPod touch.

Samsung Disses the iPhone
I was watching AXN last night and I saw an ad of Samsung Omnia, which I could describe as mean-spirited at best.
In the ad, a girl was extolling the advanced features of Omnia, by saying "Omnia is one of the few smart phones in the market that can actually send MMS."
Touché.

Fake Flash Chips in China
I posted this in my blog Unmade in China
TGDaily has a story about the spread of fake flash memory chips in China. The bootleg NAND chips, used for storage devices such as USB drives, are usually sold as Samsung-branded ones. Most of the fake chips does not even have a die inside.

New Toy
Finally, I got my free iPod Shuffle from Globelines (thanks, Globe!). It will be my second Shuffle, and my fifth iPod (my first was the first gen nano, then a 2nd gen Shuffle, then a 4.5G iPod, then the Touch).
Dorm Ref
Why didn't I have this when I was sharing a flat with roommates ages ago? The FlatShare fridge is a modular refrigerator that separates your stuff from the disgusting stuff your slob flatmate leaves inside the fridge.
Apparently the designer got the inspiration from personal experience. According to him, "there is nothing more disgusting than a dirty fridge in a shared flat."
Well said.

Artemis Fowl Animation
I love the Artemis Fowl series, and here's a gem in YouTube showing the first 'encounter' between Artemis and Holly Short (technically second, if you count the kidnapping as first).
Lich King Out on Nov 13
World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King will be released by Blizzard on November 13. Standard version would cost $40, a special edition package would set you back $70.

Globelines Sux!
I signed up for Globelines DSL service last July (I was happy with BayanTel but my building has contracted Innove to provide broadband exclusively, so no choice there). Part of my package is that I get a free iPod Shuffle. Guess what, almost two months on, and countless calls to their hotline, but no Shuffle in sight. I don't know if they ran out of mp3 players to give away or they just suck in keeping their marketing promises.
Oh, don't even start with the bandwidth. I don't even get the advertised 2 mbps speed. Shape up Globe, you're turning into a SmartBro.

Chrome Can't Recognize Adsense?
This is what I get when I try to access the Adsense site (google.com/adsense) using Google Chrome. Hmmm...
Last of the Mohicans?
Sony says that Blu-Ray would be the last physical optical disc format. The company cited the wavelength of the laser as one factor why there will be no successor to the disc.

Google's New Browser, Chrome
I just downloaded Google's newest weapon to annoy Microsoft, a browser named Chrome. So far I am liking the clean interface, and the speed it renders the webpages.
You can download it here, and you can see more details about the browser here
