Intel is following AMD's lead again. The upcoming Nehalem architecture of Intel will have a shared L3 cache, just like AMD's Phenom processor. The new processor will also feature an onboard memory controller, similar to the one introduced by AMD for its Athlon 64 processor back in 2003, as well as QuickPath, Intel's version of AMD's
HyperTransport point-to-point link.
